Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) has an exciting opportunity for college students and recent graduates interested in Marine Science and underwater research. Participants must be SCUBA certified. Space is limited!

​REEF Summer Fish Field Methodology Course, hosted in Key Largo, FL
 
June 4 – 11, 2017
 
Description: This one week hands-on course is designed for college undergraduates and recent graduates focusing on marine biology or related fields.  The course covers commonly used tools and techniques for visual assessments of reef fishes.  Classroom and field experiences will expose students to Tropical Western Atlantic reef fish identification, size estimations underwater, surveying reef fishes using transect, roving and stationery visual techniques, benthic assessments using photo quadrats and rugosity, and management of survey data.
 
Requirements: Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age, enrolled in or a recent graduate of a college level program in marine biology or a related field; scuba certified, current in their diving skills and comfortable diving from small boats; physically and mentally capable of carrying out underwater data gathering and handling of light equipment; US citizens or in possession of the appropriate US visa.
 
Course Fee: $945.00 per person, includes dorm style accommodations with kitchen, 6 days of two tank boat dives including tanks and weights, reef fish survey materials, certificate of course completion (earned). Does not include transportation, meals, or personal diving equipment.
